Artist Statement Afanassy Pud (Fainzilber Eugeny) was born in 1951 in Leningrad, where he now lives. He has obtained from Leningrad Polytechnic Institute a doctor of science degree. Since 1983, he has been a partner in the Leningrad artists group, Partnership of Experimental Fine Art. He participated in all the exhibitions of that artists group. His pictures have frequently been suppressed by government authorities and the KGB and removed from exhibitions. He has exhibited his work in more than 20 exhibitions in St.Petersburg and other cities. These exhibitions include: 1987 - exhibition "New chamber art", in Moscow 1988 - exhibition "Handwriting", Palace of Youth, in Leningrad 1991 - exhibition of Leningrad Jewish artists, in Riga 1992 - personal exhibition, House of the Scientists on Neva, in St.Petersburg 1993 - personal exhibition, "Judische Galerie", in Berlin 1994 - personal exhibition, Museum of A.Achmatova, in St.Petersburg 1994 - personal exhibition in "Gallery 21" in Cultural Center "Pushkinskaja 10", in St.Petersburg 1996 - exhibition of computer art "Graficon 96" 1997 - exhibition of the Petersburg artists, in Bad Homburg, Germany 1998 - personal exhibition in the Jewish cultural center, in Berlin The artist's paintings are included in private collections of collectors in Russia, the United States, Germany, Austria, France, Italy, Canada, Holland and also in the collection of the Museum of Art of Nonconformism in St.Petersburg. |
